6 Day Bespoke Tour Around Mont Blanc
Bespoke cycling tour, with brutal climbs, fantastic descents and spectacular Alpine scenery. Dave and his Alpine Chaingang family hosted, guided and supported our mixed ability team of middle-aged cyclists superbly. Itinerary was well tailored to our ability level with a regular bonus climb for anyone brave (stupid) enough at the end of each day. Accommodation in France, Italy and Switzerland was in local hospitable hotels or chalets and wholesome food was either in local restaurants or cooked by our chalet hosts.
Forget hors category, watch out for ‘brutal’ ‘pesky’ or ‘sharp’ climbs. Looking forward to our next cycling challenge.

Cycling Tour of Mont Blanc
Brilliant cycling holiday with the Alpine Chaingang on 7th -14th Sept 19. Well thought out routes, lovely hotels for our overnight stops, great back up support with vans and great guides cycling with our group.
This was my second trip with ACG and it was a fabulous trip as was my first trip with Dave and his ACG team 2 yrs ago. I would highly recommend ACG for road cycling trips in the alps and I will certainly be back again.

Raid Alpine 2019
Despite all the training I put in I still feared that I may be under-prepared for this challenge. I had learned to pace myself and always keep something in reserve, but six hard days of cycling, 17,500m of climbing, 31 cols and 712km, was daunting. I need not have feared. It was tough and exhausting but the group of people I cycled with were huge fun and I always had someone to ride with and share encouragement.
The organisation by Alpine Chaingang was superb. The hotels fitted the bill and the meals were excellent. Just what was needed for hungry cyclists. On the road Chris, who drove the support van was always where we needed him to be with drinks and every type of snacks.
A fantastic experience despite the occasional suffering and tiredness.
Highly recommended!

Geneva to Nice
Another brilliant trip with Dave and Chris, i think the 5th that we have now done with AC.
The planning and care with the transport from the airport, the hotels, the evening meals, the lunch and coffee stops, van stops on the road for drinks and snacks and the routes and stats on the climbs was as always perfect. Chris has an uncanny knack to know exactly at what point on the climbs it’s getting hard and he is there to offer a cup of coke to get you up that last few km’s.
The Raid alpine route was challenging but the way Dave has split the 6 days up made it managable for everyone on the trip with a wide range of ages and appitites for cycling hardship. The routes and mountain climbs / descents were stunning and the end of the trip was a real high to descend to the coast and ride along the sea front in Antibes. We made good time and managed a swim in the med followed by the medal awards and a celebratory dinner and a few drinks in historic Antibes.
Thanks again to Dave and Chris and the rest of the team.

Dolomites 2018
Dolomites and the Italian Alpes. Is there a better place to ride your bike ? Probably not, In fact it is one of the few areas which lives up to its reputation and the hype. Alpine Chaingang. Is there a better way to be supported on your cycling trip of a lifetime ? Probably not.
As with any adventure, there are so many parameters that are out of anyone’s control, however, everything which is manageable by Dave and Chris, is managed to a high level. Always there but never intrusive and always prepared and flexible enough if events create a need for change on the road and off.
Not my first trip with Alpine Chaingang, and certainly not my last, but fresh and varied riding, never beyond the limits but always challenging enough for anyone. Time and care must be spent in abundance with the pre-planning as the overnight locations are, again, varied and representative of the best the region has to offer. You just couldn’t chance across so many quality hotels.
The holiday word is often frowned upon when on tour, but comfort and relaxation along with great hospitality and food puts the icing on the cake. Whilst the Classic climbs are expected to be included in any trip, taking in lesser known roads and passes adds something which cannot be sold but just needs to be experienced. Each day gave something special and the last few days took us over stunning climbs and, probably ever nicer, beautiful smooth descents. Tonale, Mendola, Pellegrino, Cereda, Grappa, all names embedded in my memory whilst being relatively unknown by comparison to the Giau, Sella Ronda, Stelvio, Gavia, amongst others. Magnificent support fellas and thank you for the ‘living the dream’ feeling. I am sure the rest of our group feel exactly the same way. Until next time…..

Raid Alpine 2018
I recently spent a week cycling the Raid Alpine with Dave and Amy: July 29th – Aug 4th
The organisation of the ride was excellent with plenty of communication ahead of the trip including a first night relaxed briefing over a beer from Dave who introduced the week including the expected daily rhythm.
The trip was smoothly run, both Dave and Amy were always ready to answer questions, provide guidance and were a joy to spend time with. As someone undertaking this ride for the first time one of my concerns was refuelling, on reflection there was no need to be concerned, Daves experience of the route ensured that breakfasts were plentiful, lunches well planned and evening meals perfect for a cyclist.
The most memorable moment of the trip for me was the climb out of the village of Beaufort to the Col du Pre, initially a steady climb surrounded by mountains on all sides then after a couple of kilometres the road splits and gradient increases. The effort is worth it for a coffee stop overlooking Lac de Roseland, the water colour is amazing and the subsequent ride across the dam wall to Cormet de Roseland breathtaking.
Overall the trip was challenging, but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, I’ll be back next year: 10/10

A perfect trip!
Cycling with The Alpine Chaingang on their seven-day 2018 Tour de France trip is one of the BEST travel experiences I have ever had. My partner and I signed up and began the trip as rookies to road cycling, but Dave (owner) took care of us from the start with exactly the information we needed to prepare — and then the perfect amount of guidance and motivation once we hit the road. By the end of the trip, I was hooked on the daily satisfaction and fun of cycling up and down the Alps.
Dave’s cycling experience and knowledge of the area is the best. He orchestrated our daily cycling routes to correspond perfectly with the 2018 Tour de France routes. On days before/after the Tour was in town, we biked spectacular routes the race would be using later in the week (Col du Pre, Cormet de la Roselend, and Col de la Madeleine). Then, on days with Tour in town, we biked enthusiastic, crowd-lined portions of roads the race would be passing over later in the afternoon (Col de la Croix Fry, La Rosiere, and Alpe d’Huez). A PERFECT combination of cycling and first-hand Tour de France spectacle!
In addition to cycling, the room and board accomodations provided by Alpine Chaingang on the trip were amazing. With a chalet in Courchevel as our home base, we were treated to energy-filled breakfasts, delicious afternoon snacks, and hearty homemade dinners each day. Amy and Ben were brillant hosts — both at the chalet and as the drivers of our cycling support van.
In summary, for an incredible way to see the Tour de France in person — and experience the thrills of road cycling in the Alps (for any skill level) at the same time — I would enthusiastically recommend The Alpine Chaingang’s future Tour de France trips!

Wow what a great trip!!
A big thank you to Dave & Amy for organising a fantastic three day trip earlier this year for Red Lodge Cycle Club.
Chalet Nicola is a great base, (the hot tub came in handy for aching limbs), great food from Amy our host. And literally straight out of the door and onto some fantastic cycling roads.
Day one: Col du Petit Saint Bernard and fantastic pizza in Italy.
Day two: Col de la Madeleine, fantastic climb, would have struggled up there but luckily we had Amy in the support van at regular intervals with ice cold drinks and energy bars.
Day three: Dave’s easy day (ha ha!) some local climbs, couple of cat 1’s and a great coffee stop in Bozel.
Anyone who is thinking of going out to the Alps and wants a great well organised holiday should not hesitate in contacting these guys…Chapeau”
